Your house is filthy.
Not “needs a cleaning” filthy. Actually filthy.
Green algae creeping up north-facing siding. Black mildew streaks under roof line. Concrete driveway turned gray-green from years of accumulated grime. Deck that used to be brown now mostly gray. Gutters with vertical dirt stripes.
You stopped noticing because it happens gradually. Little darker each month. By year three, your white house is vaguely greenish and you’ve adjusted.
Then you visit your neighbor’s house after they had it power washed.
Their siding is actually white. Bright white. “When did they repaint?” you wonder.
They didn’t. That’s what clean looks like. Your house used to look that way. Could look that way again.
A Plus Help provides comprehensive basement remodeling services for homeowners throughout Northeast Wisconsin. Our licensed and insured contractors handle every aspect of your basement renovation—from initial design and building permits to final paint and trim installation.
Vinyl, fiber cement, wood, aluminum, brick – All collect dirt, algae, and mildew differently. All need washing.
North-facing walls are worst (less sun, stays damp, algae loves it). South and west walls accumulate dust and pollen. East walls get morning dew plus dirt.
You don’t realize how dirty siding is until one section is clean. The contrast is shocking.
We remove:
Oil stains – From parked cars, oil changes, power equipment. Surface oil comes off easily. Old embedded oil needs degreaser and high pressure.
Tire marks – Rubber embedded in concrete texture. Especially bad in turning areas and garage entrances.
Rust stains – From metal furniture, tools, or irrigation water high in iron. Needs specific rust remover, not just pressure.
Organic growth – Algae, moss, mildew in shaded sections. Makes concrete slippery when wet (safety issue).
General grime – Years of dirt, dust, pollen, and degraded concrete surface material.
Wood decks turn gray from UV exposure and embedded dirt. Not natural weathering—actual dirt plus mildew plus degraded wood fibers.
Gray deck isn’t aged character. It’s a dirty deck.
We wash wood decks carefully:
Low pressure – High pressure damages wood, raises grain, creates splintering. Proper deck washing uses lower pressure than concrete/siding.
With proper cleaner – Deck brightener or oxygenated bleach removes organic growth without damaging wood.
In correct direction – With the grain, not across it.
Proper timing – When deck needs cleaning but before wood is damaged from neglect.
Wood fences gray just like decks. Especially privacy fences with full sun exposure on one side, full shade on other.
Vinyl fences marketed as “never needs painting” still need washing. Dirt doesn’t care what material it’s sticking to.
We wash both sides because dirty is dirty regardless which side faces neighbor.
Fences hide dirt well (vertical surface, texture, not viewed up close) until suddenly they look terrible in photos or when selling house.
Power washing restores color and prepares wood fences for staining/sealing (dramatically extends fence life).
Outside of gutters develops black streaks (electrostatic bonding of pollution particles to aluminum—lovely science, terrible appearance).
Those streaks don’t wash off with rain or garden hose. Require proper chemical and pressure washing.
Clean gutters look new even if they’re 15 years old.
Dirty gutters make entire house look neglected even with clean siding.
We wash gutter exteriors when washing siding. Minimal extra cost since we’re already there with equipment and scaffolding.
Garage floors accumulate everything:
Oil and fluid drips from vehicles
Road salt tracked in during winter
Dirt from lawn equipment
Spills from projects
Tire rubber marks
General degradation of concrete surface
considering garage floor is “just concrete you park on.” A clean garage feels professional. A dirty garage feels abandoned.
We’ve power washed hundreds of homes in Fox Valley. We know Wisconsin houses, Wisconsin grime, Wisconsin weather.
Commercial-grade hot water power washers. Multiple tips and wands. Chemical injection systems. Not rental equipment.
Professional products that clean effectively without damaging surfaces or killing landscaping. Proper concentration and application.
We’re not done until you’re happy with results
Not with proper technique. We use appropriate pressure for each material. Too much pressure damages; correct pressure cleans safely. DIY often damages because rental equipment and inexperience. Professional rarely damages.
2-3 years typically. Depends on exposure, tree cover, and weather. North-facing or shaded areas accumulate growth faster. Full sun slows growth. Regular washing (every 2-3 years) prevents heavy buildup.
We protect delicate plants, water them before and after, use plant-safe chemicals when possible, and rinse thoroughly. Professional products are less harsh than DIY bleach solutions. Occasional chemical exposure won’t kill established plants. We’ve never killed a plant power washing.
Most oil stains yes, all oil stains no. Fresh oil comes out easily with degreaser. Old penetrated oil lightens significantly but may not disappear completely. We’ll be honest about realistic expectations during estimate.
No. Power washing can damage window seals and crack glass. We wash around windows carefully. Window cleaning is separate service requiring different equipment and technique.
No. We don’t spray up under shingles. Downward angle on siding prevents forcing water where it shouldn’t go. If you want roof washed (different service), we use soft wash method that doesn’t damage shingles.
Not recommended. Freezing temperatures create ice hazards and prevent proper drying. Equipment doesn’t work well in extreme cold. Spring through fall is ideal.
Average house (siding + driveway) takes 3-5 hours. Depends on size, condition, and surfaces included. We provide time estimate with quote.
Not necessarily. If we can access everything needed and you’re comfortable with that, we can work while you’re gone. Most customers prefer being home for initial walkthrough and final inspection.
ain won’t hurt anything. Chemicals are rinsed off during service. Rain just rewets surfaces that were already wet. Won’t undo the cleaning.
